Please Join Us October 14th in Montana For the Bozeman Premiere of The Endless Knot

On Tuesday, October 14th at 7:30 PM in MSU's Strand Union ballrooms, Conrad Anker and author Jennifer Lowe-Anker will discuss their life story, as well as introduce adventure filmmaker Michael Brown and the Bozeman premier of his award-winning documentary, The Endless Knot.

In October of 1999, Michael Brown accompanied a North Face team of top athletes as they attempted to climb and ski Shishapangma, an 8000 meter peak in the Tibetan Himalaya. Tragedy struck in the form of a massive avalanche that took the life of Bozeman climber Alex Lowe and his companion, David Bridges. LoweÕs best friend Conrad Anker survived the avalanche and returned to offer solace to Jennifer Lowe and her three young sons. Lowe and Anker eventually married and Jennifer Lowe-Anker chronicled her story of life with two world-class mountaineers in her recent memoir Forget Me Not (www.jennilowe.com).

Brown's 57- minute film The Endless Knot chronicles the friendship of two men, the love of family, overcoming survivor's guilt and helping others to avoid a similar fate. Alex Lowe's death was one of many sad stories that unfold when families lose loved ones in the mountains. The celebrated high altitude Sherpas of the Himalayas suffer more loss of life than any other group as they work at extreme altitude for Western expeditions. Brown's film follows Conrad and Jennifer as they seek meaning beyond tragedy with the Khumbu Climbing School, a mountaineering school for Sherpas and high altitude Nepali workers. Under the direction of the Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation, the Khumbu Climbing School was launched in 2002.

Featuring Conrad Anker, Jennifer Lowe-Anker, Timmy O'Neill and The Khumbu Climbing School, Michael Brown has created a film that will warm the heart and leave you inspired. The Endless Knot has played in over twenty film festivals worldwide and has garnered accolades and six awards.

The Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the MSU School of Architecture's graduate program. Under the direction of Mike Everts, with help from Bozeman architect Bob Mechels and Marie Wilson, MSU students have already begun to design a long-awaited building for the Khumbu Climbing School in Phortse Village of Nepal. This exciting collaboration gives Bozeman students the opportunity to travel and interact with the indigenous people of Nepal, practicing their skills in a remote situation while extending good will in a valuable cultural exchange. We believe that their innovative ideas will create a safer and warmer building than traditional designs, ultimately bettering the lives of villagers. Please join the students after the showing of the film to see their progress so far on plans for the building.

This presentation is sponsored by ASMSU, MSU Leadership Institute, The Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation, Bozeman Daily Chronicle, MSU's School of Architecture and Department of English. Tickets may be purchased at the Bobcat Ticket Office, Barrel Mountaineering, Northern Lights Trading Company and local TicketsWest Outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
